Our client is a large main building contractor undertaking a range of construction projects throughout the island.   Due to continued expansion within the team, a Cost Controller is required to work with the Post Contracts Manager ensuring financial success of projects.   Responsibilities include:
  • Tracking project expenses against budgets including variances
  • Collaborating with the construction project managers to ensure cost allocations and reporting is accurate and timey
  • Identifying and raising any concerns with the Project Managers
  • Conducting any site visits as required
  • Preparing weekly and monthly cost reports which highlight any issues
  Talent will:
  • Ideally have a Quantity Surveying, Architecture or Civil Engineering background
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Have excellent planning and time management ability
  • Possess a methodical approach to work with high accuracy and attention to details
  • Show proficiency in Microsoft Excel and preferably some experience in Power BI
  This is a full time role primarily working on a Monday to Friday basis however there will be rostering to cover weekends.  Primarily this role will be office based with travel to various sites and therefore a driving license will be required.   This is a great opportunity for a QS or Cost professional to develop their career within a market leader.   Please contact Ami Baird at ami.baird@ablyresources.com

Our client is a busy, reputable contractor undertaking projects throughout Malta.   Due to expansion brought about by continued project awards, a Project Manager with experience in the local construction sector is required to oversee a range of projects ranging from traditional construction to internal fit-out.   Talent will:
  • Be capable of managing multiple sites simultaneously
  • Develop, follow and update PoW’s
  • Coordinate and oversee multiple subcontractors
  • Work closely with the procurement and quantity surveying teams
  • Regularly report on-site progress to the senior management team
  • Liaise with clients and subcontractors ensuring strong professional relationships

Our client is a design, cost and project management consultancy operating from Head Quarters on Malta but undertaking projects throughout the world. Due to continued project awards and expansion of the commercial team, a Cost Manager / QS is now required to join the organisation on a full time basis. Reporting to the Head of Quantity Surveying, the purpose of this role will be to develop commercial strategies in accordance with project requirements; ensuring that all commercial aspects are properly controlled whilst developing and maintaining relationships with the client. Responsibilities:
  • Liaison with Client and the project team to determine the Client requirements and to develop brief
  • Prepare appraisals as required, assessing the effects of capital expenditure
  • Advise the team on the project brief, preferred procurement routes, costs and cash flow
  • Advise on alternative procurement options
  • Analyse the whole-life costs of a project through both planning the construction process.
  • Take responsibility for the monitor and control of costs during pre-contract stages
  • Co-ordination of risk and value management exercises
  • Preparation of tender and contract documentation
  • Act as part of the Client’s team conducting negotiations with tenderers and assisting in tender selection and appraisal on behalf of the Client
  • Provide contractual advice for parties involved in the case of dispute
  • Liaise with Client’s insurance advisers and advise on insurance related matters in construction
  • Liaise with Client’s legal advisers on use and/or amendments to standard forms of contract or contribute to drafting of particular Client requirements; making recommendation for Client’s approval
  The applicant will:
  • Be degree qualified and preferably (but not essentially) be MRICS
  • Possess solid experience in the cost management of large scale, luxury projects
  • Where possible have knowledge of integrated building services on major projects
  • Demonstrate experience using cost estimating software (advantageous)

Key Responsibilities: - Provide professional technical guidance and full responsibility for QA/QC activities within offshore projects. - Ensure the Quality Management System is fully implemented, monitored, and continuously improved across the offshore department. - Assure full compliance with recognised energy operator standards, international codes, and regulatory requirements, as defined within Project Quality Plans (PQP). - Lead, coordinate, and influence project and contractor Quality and Inspection teams to achieve high-performance standards. - Oversee QA/QC activities throughout engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases. - Ensure effective manufacturing inspection, certification, and quality control of equipment and materials. Candidate Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an internationally recognised university (Mechanical Engineering preferred). Certified Lead ISO 9001 Auditor; additional professional quality qualifications are highly desirable. - Strong working knowledge of international quality codes, standards, and operator specifications. - Proven experience in developing and implementing Quality Management Systems for Oil & Gas or major infrastructure projects. - Solid understanding of manufacturing inspection and certification processes and associated QA/QC practices. - Strong offshore construction knowledge, including welding and NDE (conventional and advanced techniques). - Proficient in English, both written and spoken. - Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage project and contractor teams. - Membership of a recognised professional institution is preferred.
