Electrical Plant Technician – Licence B Malta   Our client is a highly reputable contractor and manufacturer of building materials.  An Electrical Technician possessing License A and preferably License B is now required to assist the Engineering Manager with repair and maintenance of production plant equipment.   Responsibilities include:
  • Repairing existing electrical installation in both single and three phase.

An established engineering and technical services organisation in Malta is seeking an experienced Manager to lead its marine maintenance and repair division.  This primarily includes the repair, maintenance and service of engines together with our equipment.   This is a senior, hands-on position combining workshop leadership, technical oversight, customer management and commercial development. The successful candidate will coordinate technicians, manage maintenance activities and ensure marine machinery and associated equipment are serviced, repaired and commissioned safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. The position would suit an experienced mechanical maintenance professional who is comfortable managing people, resolving technical issues and developing long-term customer relationships.   Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily activities of the marine servicing and maintenance team.
  • Plan and allocate work according to operational priorities, available resources and customer requirements.
  • Provide practical technical support to technicians when diagnosing faults or completing complex repairs.
  • Monitor the performance and condition of marine machinery, engines and related systems.

  Talent will:
  • Possess substantial experience within maintenance primarily of engines or mechanical products
  • Demonstrate previous experience supervising technicians, workshop employees or field-service personnel.
  • Have experience planning maintenance work, managing repairs and coordinating equipment commissioning.
  • Have the ability interpret technical documentation, manufacturer specifications and service procedures.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Have a strong understanding of workplace health and safety, environmental responsibilities and quality-control requirements.

Report to Jacket Engineering Coordinator, the Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment used in oil and gas facilities. This includes ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with regulatory and company standards across all project phases from design and construction to commissioning and operations, candidate responsibilities. Design & Engineering:
  • Review and consent to the design electrical power distribution systems (LV, MV, HV) for oil and gas installations.
  • Review the developed single - line diagrams (SLDs), load lists, cable schedules, grounding, and lighting layouts.
  • Review and approve the selected electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS, batteries, and motors.
  • Perform electrical system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection coordination).
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEC, NEC, IEEE, API, NEMA, ATEX).
Project Execution & Procurement:
  • Review and approve vendor documents and technical specifications.
  • Prepare Material Requisitions (MRs), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs), and equipment datasheets.
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction teams to ensure design integration.
Construction & Commissioning:
  • Supervise installation of electrical systems and ensure compliance with approved designs and standards.
  • Conduct inspection, testing, and pre - commissioning of electrical equipment.
  • Participate in FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests) and SATs (Site Acceptance Tests).
  • Troubleshoot issues during installation and commissioning phases.
Operations & Maintenance:
  • Support operations teams in troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems.
  • Review condition monitoring data (e.g., IR thermography, insulation resistance tests).
  • Participate in root cause analysis for electrical failures.
  • Ensure asset integrity and optimize electrical system performance over the asset lifecycle.
Skills & Competencies:
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical design for oil & gas environments (onshore/offshore).
  • Familiarity with hazardous area classification and equipment selection.
  • Experience with electrical system modelling software (ETAP, SKM, DigSILENT).
  • Understanding of electrical protection systems, earthing, lighting, and lightning protection.
  • Strong analytical, coordination, and communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
  • Work experience of five (5) years in the sought discipline after earning the university degree.
  • Excellent spoken and written English including proven ability to write reports.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving maintenance strategy, supporting shutdown activities and delivering continuous improvement initiatives across the site. Key Responsibilities * Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all maintenance activities. * Supervise and develop a team of mechanical technicians and maintenance personnel. * Ensure maintenance resources are effectively planned and deployed to support operational requirements. * Manage the execution of preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance activities. * Support workforce competency development, training and succession planning. * Coordinate activities with other maintenance disciplines including Electrical, Instrumentation and Operations teams. * Contribute to maintenance planning and scheduling processes to maximise equipment availability and minimise downtime. * Drive reliability improvements through root cause analysis, maintenance optimisation and best-practice execution. * Support major shutdowns, outages and turnaround events, including planning and execution activities. * Monitor maintenance KPIs, backlog management and compliance requirements. * Work closely with vendors and contractors to ensure safe and efficient delivery of maintenance services. * Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement and enhanced asset performance. * Lead daily maintenance meetings, toolbox talks and work coordination activities. * Ensure tooling, equipment and maintenance resources remain fit for purpose and properly managed. Requirements * Significant experience in a mechanical maintenance leadership role within heavy industry, energy, petrochemical, refining, process manufacturing or a similar asset-intensive environment. * Proven track record supervising maintenance teams and contractors. * Strong knowledge of preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance methodologies. * Experience supporting plant shutdowns, turnarounds or major maintenance campaigns. * Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation and maintenance procedures. * Strong understanding of safety, compliance and maintenance best practices. * Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills. * Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
