I’m supporting a major international oil and gas operator with a requirement for multiple experienced Buyers to join its Purchasing team in Doha, Qatar.

The positions will involve technical procurement and purchasing activities supporting oil and gas operations, including the sourcing of equipment, materials and services required for operational and engineering activities.

I’m particularly interested in speaking with candidates who can demonstrate:

– Minimum 8 years’ experience in procurement, purchasing or technical buying within the oil and gas industry.
– Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mandatory), ideally Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical or a related discipline.
– Experience working directly for an oil and gas owner/operator, ideally a National Oil Company (NOC) or International Oil Company (IOC).
– Experience supporting procurement activities for operating oil and gas assets, production facilities or associated engineering requirements.
– Strong technical purchasing experience covering engineered equipment, mechanical and electrical materials, instrumentation, spare parts and operational requirements.
– Sound understanding of technical specifications, engineering standards, material testing procedures and quality requirements.
– Experience with supplier evaluation, technical and commercial bid assessments, purchase orders, expediting and delivery coordination.
– Ability to work effectively with engineering, maintenance, operations and project teams.
– Previous Middle East oil and gas experience would be advantageous.

Candidates currently working as Buyers, Senior Buyers, Procurement Engineers, Procurement Specialists, Purchasing Engineers or Category Specialists / Managers would be particularly relevant.

The strongest profiles will combine an engineering qualification with substantial technical procurement experience gained directly within an oil and gas operating company.

Experience supporting capital projects would be beneficial, although particular consideration will be given to candidates with direct operational procurement experience within established oil and gas operating companies.

These are Doha-based opportunities requiring relocation to Qatar.
