Senior Economic Analyst (Petrochemicals & Fertilisers) | Market Analysis | Doha | Energy Sector

Ably Resources is supporting a highly reputable, state-backed energy organisation in Doha with the appointment of a Senior Economic Analyst to join its Marketing Analysis & Planning function.

This is a strategic market intelligence role positioned at the centre of commercial value optimisation across petrochemicals and fertiliser exports. The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing independent economic analysis, validating commercial decisions, and supporting pricing strategy within a globally significant energy portfolio.

This is not a trading role. It is a senior market analysis and economic assurance position within a large-scale, complex energy organisation.

The remit includes:

• Developing short-term market outlooks integrating internal and external intelligence
• Building and maintaining supply/demand and pricing models across relevant product markets
• Monitoring competitor activity and global trade flows
• Reviewing and validating export sales, imports, and shipping economics
• Supporting netback optimisation and benchmark establishment
• Providing independent economic endorsement of sales and shipping fixtures
• Contributing to annual corporate strategy and commercial planning cycles
• Delivering structured market intelligence and presentations to senior stakeholders

We are seeking experienced professionals with established exposure to oil & gas, petrochemicals, fertilisers, or commodity trading environments who combine strong economic fundamentals with commercial acumen.

Candidate profile:

• 7+ years’ experience, including at least 5 years within oil & gas, petrochemicals, fertilisers, or trading environments
• Strong economic modelling, pricing, and valuation capability
• Experience in market analysis, commercial strategy, or economic assurance functions
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with SAP or equivalent ERP systems
• Ability to operate independently within a multidisciplinary, governance-led structure
• Comfortable presenting analysis to senior management

This position supports commercially sensitive decisions at corporate level within a globally recognised energy platform.
