Senior Mechanical Engineer

Our client is a hugely successful and well known building services organisation requiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead and manage the technical and commercial delivery of mechanical installation projects. This includes overseeing design development, cost planning, and providing technical support to operational teams, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, within budget, and in line with client and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all necessary technical and commercial information is available to support the preparation of designs, drawings, and cost estimates in accordance with tender and contract requirements.
- Take full ownership of mechanical design and technical development for assigned projects, including reviewing and validating design solutions.
- Lead the preparation and review of workshop drawings, ensuring effective coordination with other services, structural components, and architectural elements.
- Review and approve material and equipment submittals, technical documentation, and samples for client approval, ensuring compliance with specifications and cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare and oversee detailed cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and material take-offs based on tender documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Analyse tender documentation and system designs to identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options to optimise project costs.
- Liaise with local and international suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and ensure technical compliance with project requirements.
- Oversee procurement activities, including the preparation and review of purchase orders for mechanical equipment and materials.
- Provide technical guidance and support to operational teams during project execution, including resolving installation and coordination challenges.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, attending meetings and providing expert advice on mechanical systems.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment across design, cost, and delivery strategies.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, reviewing their work and promoting adherence to company standards and best practices.
Talent will:
- Be experienced in design and supervision of building services projects
- Hold a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related subject
- Demonstrate excellent ability with AutoCAD and preferably Revit
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
