As a Marine Operations Supervisor based in Ras Laffan, Qatar, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the operations of various marine craft, including pilot boats and tugs, which are essential for providing pilotage, towage, and mooring services within the port. Your expertise and leadership will ensure the safe and efficient movement of vessels within the port, contributing to the overall success of maritime operations in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management: Lead and supervise the daily operations of marine craft, including pilot boats and tugs, ensuring they are fully operational and well-maintained. Coordinate vessel movements, pilotage, towage, and mooring services to optimize port activities.

Safety and Compliance: Uphold strict safety standards and regulatory compliance for maritime operations. Implement and enforce protocols to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of personnel, vessels, and cargo.

Team Leadership: Manage a team of skilled maritime professionals, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment. Provide guidance, support, and training to ensure the team’s competency and adherence to best practices.

Technical Expertise: Leverage your extensive experience in the shipping and oil industry, particularly in sea-going roles such as Chief Engineer/Marine Engineer, to make informed decisions regarding vessel maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.

Onshore Management: Utilize your previous onshore technical management experience to oversee and coordinate the technical aspects of marine operations. Apply your insights to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency.

Communication: Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, including port authorities, vessel operators, and internal teams. Keep all relevant parties informed about vessel movements, operational challenges, and other pertinent information.

Experience & Skills:

Shipping and Oil Industry Experience: A minimum of 10 years’ experience within the shipping and oil industry is required. Ideally, you should possess at least 5 years of sea-going work experience as a Chief Engineer/Marine Engineer.

Vessel Experience: Preferred experience in Harbour Tugs, Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS), Offshore Supply Vessels (OSVs), or Dive Support vessels. This experience will contribute to your ability to effectively manage diverse marine craft.

Onshore Management: A background of more than 5 years in onshore technical management and overall management roles within the shipping and oil industry will be a significant advantage.

Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in using MS Office tools and familiarity with plant maintenance systems are essential for maintaining accurate records and facilitating communication.

Organizational and Communication Skills: Independent and resourceful, you should possess excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to coordinate complex marine operations and interact effectively with various stakeholders.

Education:

A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or another marine-related field of study is required. Your educational background will provide you with the foundational knowledge needed to make informed decisions in the maritime domain.
