ABLY RESOURCES are seeking an IT Lead, Services Asset Management to be based in Aberdeen

Job Role:

Responsible for ensuring successful delivery of strategic projects working within a global team consisting of both internal people and 3rd party technology partners. Manage and liaise effectively with the primary managed services providers and other third-party suppliers. Define and deliver practical, pragmatic and cost-effective solutions that meet stakeholders’ needs. Ensure solutions are fully embedded and delivering agreed value as set out in the business case.

This IT lead will be responsible for our asset management platform (Maximo), and partnering with the business to develop a strategy to deliver premier assets manage services to the Oil and Gas industry


• Build a deep understanding of the Maximo platform, its capabilities/limitation, and how it best is applied in the IT ecosystem, and in monetize offerings to our customers

• Partner with operating leaders and customers to leverage Maximo to deliver value added asset management services

• Seek innovative solutions levering your external perspective to improve the service offering: Analytics, Digital solutions, APM

• Oversee applicable projects, undertaking all aspects of the planning process, and maintain plus manage detailed plans throughout the project lifecycle, taking account of dependencies and resource requirements

• Work with all stakeholders, contributors and suppliers to ensure project deliverables are met to plan and to budget

• Create the necessary project lifecycle documentation, ensuring all project documents are complete, accurate, current and stored appropriately

• Work with other IT specialist areas to establish and assess the impact of possible solutions on related systems and processes

• Investigate business challenges and co-ordinate the selection, design and implementation of the most appropriate solution

• Capture and translate business requirements effectively, acting as liaison conduit to more technical partners

Knowledge & Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) and professional background in IT augmented by considerable IT Project Management experience

• Professional project management certifications – PMP or Prince 2 Practitioner

• Familiar with and able to adhere to project management methodologies and tools

• Extensive working experience and training on the Maximo platform

• Experience in a Services business model

• Demonstrated creativity and innovation skills to solve complex business problems

• Relentless focus on delivering customer outcomes


• Track record of managing business and technical projects of strategic significance via third party suppliers

• A proven ability to work in a collaborative style, building and developing effective customer and service provider relationships

• Natural communicator and presenter with proven ability to manage, influence and coach internal stakeholders, steering them towards agreed outcomes

• Self-starter with strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to solve complex problems in a methodical way

• Strong organizational skills; ability to scope, plan, and execute multiple concurrent projects or tasks and ensure business adoption (or benefit) is achieved

• Strong facilitation and change management skills. Ability to articulate the need for change, create shared need, and ensure change is adopted and sustained.

• External perspective. Actively seeks out and applies best practices from external sources of best practice and applies them to solve business problems in a simple and cost-effective manner

• Drive for Simplification: Able to apply lean, process reengineering, agile, or six sigma tools to simplify processes

• Team player: Must work in a collaborative, inclusive, and transparent manner. Seeks ways to improve the skills, abilities, and outcomes of the team

• Business partnership: Must have the ability to effectively partner with business users to understand processes, and influence change. Should be seen as a trusted advisor and partner in business operations

• Must be willing and able to travel as required


• Project Management experience

• Must have experience implementing and optimising the use of Maximo

• Must have extensive experience in services and/ or asset management business model
